Description:
Andrew O'Brien United's Irish International and Billy Paynter the English Striker up for a corner here for Leeds in front of the Revie Stand at Elland Road. Andy played the full ninety minutes for Leeds in the game against the hampshire outfit while Billy was replaced after 65 minutes by Luciano Becchio.
Manager Simon Grayson initially brought Andrew O'Brien in on a months loan from Bolton Wanderers on the 29th October, 2010. The move to Elland Road was the second time around for O'Brien, he started his footballing career at Leeds Utd and was released 17 years previous as a 14 year old to Bradford City. After impressing the manager with his performances the loan period was extended on the 24th November, 2010 to reach to 4th January, 2011 during which time O'Brien expressed desires to make his loan period made permanent. By the 30th December, 2010 manager Grayson confirmed he wanted the player permanently and on the 1st January, 2011 O'Brien signed a permanent two and a half year contract turning down a lucrative offer from Cardiff City into the bargain. The United manager Simon Grayson signed Billy Paynter on the 2nd June, 2010 for three years on a Bosman free transfer. The player coming from Swindon Town was given the coveted number nine shirt for United taking over from former Striker Jermaine Beckford. Paynter picked up an injury in United's pre-season campaign which ruled him out for the rest of the campaign and for the first three months of the 2010-11 season. On 30th October, 2010 Paynter was back from injury making his debut appearance for the Leeds first team in the Football League Championship away game against Scunthorpe United. He made his home debut for the Whites on the 9th November, 2010 coming on as substitute in the game against Hull City.
