Description: Mervyn Day here the United keeper keeping guard in a game during the 1989-90 Second Division Championship winning season. A great signing by Eddie Gray, came to United from Aston Villa for a fee of £30,000 on the 31st, January 1985 and stayed with the Whites up until the 1st July, 1993 when he went to Luton Town. A popular player at Elland Road Day was a key figure in the Bremner team that made the Play Off Final and FA Cup Semi Final in the season 1986-87 and was Wilkinson's first choice keeper througout United's promotion push and eventual Second Division title winning side of 1989-90. Day made 227 league appearances for the Whites 268 in total.
