Description:
United fans celebrate what they thought was the equalising goal here at the Bescot Stadium only for the linesman to rule out the strike by United midfielder Bradley Johnson for offside. Leeds were playing Walsall in the First Division clash on 31st January, 2009. It was a frustrating afternoon for Grayson's men as United dominated most of the play but were beaten 1-0 by the West Midlands side after they went ahead early in the game. The loss ended a three match winning streak for United and also handed manager Simon Grayson his first away loss as Leeds united manager. 8,920 fans turned out for the FL1 fixture with around half of those cheering for the men in Blue as the United supporters required two sides of the Bescot Stadium to accommodate them.
Leeds United: Ankergren, Hughes, Marques, Naylor, Dickinson, Robinson, Douglas, Delph, Snodgrass, Beckford, Becchio. Subs: Snodgrass for Johnson, Becchio for Beckford, Howson for Douglas. Thanks to Colin Callow for this great pic. |
