Howson Ponders

Description: Jonathan Howson the Leeds born Midfielder here waits for the ball to come back in play from a dead ball situation. The shot taken from the Football League Championship encounter with Swansea City at Elland Road on the 11th September, 2010. Jonny played the full ninety minutes for The Whites in the game against the Swans.

Loiner and United fan Jonathan Howson came through the Academy at Leeds United and made his senior debut for the club on the 19th September, 2006 in the second round of the Football League Cup which United won 3-1. Later in the same season of 2006-07 Howson was given his league debut by manager Wise which came on the 23rd December, 2006 in the 0-0 draw with Hull City at Elland Road. By the season 2007-08 Howson had established himself as the natural choice for his position winning the Young Player of the Year award and earning a new three year contract with the Whites in the bargain. Manager Simon Grayson handed the role of captain to Howson at the start of season 2009-10 due to the absence of injured fellow Loiner Richard Naylor.

Leeds United: Higgs, Connolly, Naylor, Collins, Bessone, Gradel, Howson, Kilkenny, Johnson, Becchio, Watt.
Subs: Sam for Watt, McCormack for Kilkenny, Somma for Becchio.
