Loiner and United fan Jonathan Howson came through the Academy at Leeds United and made his senior debut for the club on the 19th September, 2006 in the second round of the Football League Cup which United won 3-1. Later in the same season of 2006-07 Howson was given his league debut by manager Wise which came on the 23rd December, 2006 in the 0-0 draw with Hull City at Elland Road.
