Description: Adam Clayton United's Midfielder celebrates with Forward Billy Paynter here after Billy scores for United. The shot coming from the Football League Championship game against Peterborough United at Elland Road on the 14th April, 2012. Clayton played the full game for Leeds against the Posh while Billy started the game for Leeds and scored two goals but was replaced on ninety minutes by Luciano Becchio.

Manager Simon Grayson initially signed Adam Clayton from Manchester City on a months loan on the 6th August, 2010. He made his debut for Leeds coming on as substitute in the home game against Derby County just 24 hours after he had signed. Just over a month later on the 21st September, 2010 Clayton joined Leeds on a permanent basis. He made three more substitute appearances for Leeds in that season before he was loaned out to Peterborough and then the MK Dons for match experience. He impressed at his loan clubs and by now Clayton wanted to stake a claim to play in the first team at Elland Road for the 2011-12 season. Clayton's chance came after the departure of Midfielders Neil Kilkenny and Bradley Johnson in the Summer transfer window. He started in the first eleven for Leeds in the opening game of the season against Southampton at St Marys and since as made himself a permanent fixture in United's Midfield.

The United manager Simon Grayson signed Billy Paynter on the 2nd June, 2010 for three years on a Bosman free transfer. The player coming from Swindon Town was given the coveted number nine shirt for United taking over from former Striker Jermaine Beckford. Paynter picked up an injury in United's pre-season campaign which ruled him out for the rest of the campaign and for the first three months of the 2010-11 season. On 30th October, 2010 Paynter was back from injury making his debut appearance for the Leeds first team in the Football League Championship away game against Scunthorpe United. He made his home debut for the Whites on the 9th November, 2010 coming on as substitute in the game against Hull City.
