Description:
Lee Bowyer here as always last off the pitch applauding the Elland Road faithful. United had just concluded their successful 2000-01 season and did a lap of honour thanking the fans after the last game with Leicester City on May 19th 2001. O'leary's young squad had a great season finishing 4th in the league a UEFA Cup qualifying spot and reached the Semi Final of the Champions League. The home clash with Leicester topped off the season as United were easy winners beating Leicester 3-1. Alan Smith netted twice for United with Ian Harte getting the other in front of 39,105 fans.
