Description: Andy Lonergan United's number one here caught during some pre-game practice in front of the Kop while under the watchful eye of the Leeds goalkeeping coach Andy Beasley. The shot coming from the Football League Championship game against Portsmouth at Elland Road on the 1st October, 2011. Andy played the full ninety minutes for Leeds in the game against the South Coast outfit.

The United manager Simon Grayson signed Andrew Lonergan on the 25th July, 2011 for three years. Andrew coming from Preston North End cost United 200k and he was given the number one shirt. He made his debut for Leeds in the opening game of the 2011-12 season at St Mary's Stadium in the match against Southampton. Early form from the goalkeeper in his first season cemented his claim as the first choice goalkeeper at Elland Road and many fans suggested he was more than a capable replacement for Kasper Schmeichel who had left previously in the Summer transfer window. The under 21 England International was attracting interest from premiership clubs including Everton and the United manager Grayson was delighted when he captured his signature. After the signing Grayson commented: "....Andy was always my number one choice, and I'm delighted we could bring him here....He's played many games in the Championship and has been linked with many moves to the Premier League which speaks volumes about him."

Leeds United: Lonergan, Connolly, Lees, O'Dea, White, Snodgrass, Howson, Clayton, Pugh, Keogh, McCormack.
Subs: Becchio for Keogh, Forssell for McCormack, Vayrynen for Snodgrass.
