A Kis' O'Dea

A Kis ODea

Description: Darren O'Dea United's Irish loanee Defender and Patrick Kisnorbo the Australian International Defender caught with the high fives here on the Portman Road pitch. The shot coming from the Football League Championship game against Ipswich Town at Portman Road on the 27th August, 2011.

Manager Simon Grayson signed Darren O'Dea from Celtic on the 4th August, 2011 for a season long loan. O'Dea had a trial with Leeds United aged 13 and was given his customary number 48 shirt after the player arrived for real. Darren made his debut for Leeds at the start of the 2011-12 season in the game against Southampton. After the signing was completed the player commented.."I'm delighted to be here. I'd been looking to get away and as soon as I heard of Leeds' interest I had no doubts.... I was on trial here as a 13-year-old and the place was impressive then. It's changed a bit since, but it's a great set-up here and it was an easy decision to make.

Defender Kisnorbo was signed by Simon Grayson on the 22nd July, 2009 in a two year deal coming from Leicester City. Kisnorbo turned down a host of Championship clubs who were also after his signature to join the Whites. 'Paddy' made his debut for United in the 2009-10 season opener against Exeter City at Elland Road where he picked up a head wound that required 12 stitches. United won the game 2-1 and Kisnorbo stayed on the park througout. On 12th August, 2009 Kisnorbo brought Leeds United Football Club another landmark, his 15th appearance for Australia in the game against the Republic of Ireland made Patrick Leeds United's 100th full international player. Kisnorbo also picked up a couple of stitches above his right brow in the game with Ireland for his efforts. His bravery and strong performances soon made Kisnorbo a favourite with the Elland Road faithful. During the season 2009-10 Patrick suffered an Achilles injury which kept him out of the last nine games for United including the final game decider against Bristol Rovers. The injury also kept him from travelling to the World Cup to represent Australia. Despite the injury Patrick was named as the fans Leeds United Player Of The Season and also the Players Player Of The Season for 2009-10.
