We're The Right Side

Were The Right Side

Description: The right side of the Leeds end here at Adams Park - the home of Leeds United for a day. The travelling United faithful filled two stands for the League One encounter with Wycombe Wanderers on August 15th, 2009. The United fans easily sold out their allocation for the game against the Buckinghamshire outfit cheering United to victory with an estimated 2,000 supporters turning out for The Whites.

United were playing freshly promoted Wycombe Wanderers at Adams Park. Jermaine Beckford made a welcome return after a knee injury and Andrew Hughes started in place of the injured Ben Parker. This would be United's first ever professional clash against Wycombe and it was Leeds who came close to scoring first with an effort from Jermaine Beckford in the first quarter but the strike went inches wide. Leeds were the dominant side throughout the first 45mins but the two sides went in all square at half time. United again started the second half looking the most threatening and it wasn't long before Leeds broke the deadlock, on the 61st minute Luciano Becchio struck a first time effort from outside the box which left the Wycombe goalkeeper with no chance and sent the United faithful behind the goal into raptures. Leeds looked comfortable for the rest of the game and coasted the lead to the 90th minute mark making it 3 points for Grayson's men and the third straight win of the season for United. 8,400 were at Adams Park for the match with the United following packing two sides of the ground.

Leeds United: Higgs, Crowe, Marques, Kisnorbo, Hughes, Snodgrass, Howson, Doyle, Johnson, Beckford, Becchio.
Subs: Prutton for Snodgrass, Showunmi for Becchio.

Thanks to Colin Callow for this great pic.
