A dominant Leeds United were unlucky not to lift the FA Cup the second time of asking as the Whites dominated play on a muddy Wembley pitch. Just two minutes to go before the final whistle when Chelsea equalised taking the match to a replay. The first time an FA Cup Final had been taken to a replay since 1912. Charlton and Hunter scored for The Whites in a game that ended 2-2.

The game again went to extra time and it was Chelsea who scored the winner in the second period. Jones scored for Leeds in the game which ended 2-1. The 1970 FA Cup replay is one of the most watched Uk televison shows with an audience of 28 million.
