United End Cardiff

United End Cardiff

Description: The Leeds United supporters pack their end at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff for the 2005-06 Play Off Final with Watford. Blackwell's men were about to play Watford in the Play Off Final at the end of season 2005-06. United who finished 5th in the Championship had just beat Preston 3-1 over two legs in the Semi Final. Eddie Lewis bagging an equaliser at Elland Road and Rob Hulse and Frazer Richardson coming up with the goods at Deepdale to book United's place in the Final. It seemed the occasion proved too much for United on the day, the team never got started, the Whites were easily beat 3-0 by a much more hungry Watford. It had been a reasonable season for Blackwell, according to the chairman Ken Bates he was still ahead of schedule but when it mattered the most his team seriously let him down. A crowd of 64,736 watched the game and the United fans could have filled the stadium on their own as applications for the match way outnumbered the allocation allotted to the White Army.

Leeds United: Sullivan, Kelly, Butler, Gregan, Killgallon, Richardson, Derry, Miller, Douglas, Lewis, Hulse.
Subs: Blake for Richardson, Healy for Miller, Bakke for Gregan.
