Description:
The United following at Highbury here in raptures after Leeds pull off a relegation saving win. Season 2002-03 and Leeds found themselves languishing near the bottom of the Premiership after a disastrous 8 month spell by manager Terry Venables. Venables resigned after 8 months losing 16 of the 30 games he was in charge for. Peter Reid was brought in on a temporary basis and given the brief to keep Leeds in the Premiership. Reid was left with everything to do. It started off bad for Reid losing 3-1 away to Liverpool and by the time the Arsenal fixture came up it was a win or bust situation for United. Reid's United pulled it off in an amazing game which the Whites won 3-2. United took the lead twice with goals from Harry Kewell and Ian Harte only for Arsenal to equalise both goals respectively, then late in the game up popped Mark Viduka to score a rocket of a goal which secured the points for United in front of a 38,127 crowd and secured the club from relegation.
