Description: The United faithful pack their end here in the 1984-85 end of season clash with Birmingham City at St.Andrews Park. This game is known for one of the worst football riots in England. It was a tense Saturday afternoon all round with Leeds United still clinging on to faint hopes of promotion, Birmingham were aleady promoted. During the game after Birmingham City scored a pitch invasion by both sets of supporters resulted in fighting and the exchange of missiles. The players were quickly taken off the pitch and Mounted police were called to seperate the two sets of supporters, and to try and restore calm. The game was brought to a halt for over 30mins. Play eventually resumed after the pitch was cleared and under an edgy atmosphere the game went on without another goal scored. Tragically after the game when the Leeds fans were leaving the ground a wall collapsed killing a teenage boy.
United lost the game 1-0 in front of 24,847 supporters.
