Half Time Lights Out

Half Time Lights Out

Submitted: 04/05/09 (Edited 05/08/09)
Description: The United faithful here at half time Deepdale when the lights around the ground went out. United were playing Preston in the second leg of their Championship Play off final at the Deepdale at the end of the 2005-06 season. The first game at Elland Road ended in a 1-1 draw with Eddie Lewis scoring a memorable equaliser with a free kick from the edge of the box. The goal that probably kept United in the game. According to the Preston manager it was a case of 'Job Done,' his words after the first leg at Elland Road. It was up to Blackwell's men to prove him wrong and they didn't disappoint as United won the game 2-0 with goals from Rob Hulse and Frazer Richardson in front of 20,383. The lights went out during the half-time interval and it was United who saw the light as both United goals came in the second half which booked them a place in the final.

Leeds United: Sullivan, Kelly, Gregan, Kilgallon, Crainey, Douglas, Derry, Miller, Richardson, Hulse, Lewis.
Subs: Stone for Lewis, Cresswell for Hulse.
