Description:
Leeds fans turn desperation into point of sale humour with a big sale banner. The banner reads 'Players 4 Sale Buy 1 Get 1 Free' and a message to manager Terry Venables to 'Keep Smiling.' Because of Leeds United's financial difficulties the board were forced to sell, sell, sell during the 2002-03 season despite Venables being told the contrary when he came to Leeds and the infamous line from Ridsdale that the 'Crown Jewels' would not be sold didn't help. After the January Sales of Bowyer, Fowler and Woodgate attention from the fans turned from poor performances on the park to the Leeds United board and in particular Peter Ridsdale.
