Description:
The Bill Shankly Kop End erupts in delight here as Billy Paynter United's English Striker scores his first goal for Leeds in front of United's travelling White Army at Deepdale. The shot coming from the Football League Championship game against Preston North End at Deepdale on the 8th March, 2011. Billy started the game for Leeds and scored United's first goal but was replaced on 75 minutes by the Argentine Luciano Becchio. The United fans easily sold out their allocation for the game against the North End, taking over 5,000 fans in support of The Whites t'other side of the Peninnes.
The United manager Simon Grayson signed Billy Paynter on the 2nd June, 2010 for three years on a Bosman free transfer. The player coming from Swindon Town was given the coveted number nine shirt for United taking over from former Striker Jermaine Beckford. Paynter picked up an injury in United's pre-season campaign which ruled him out for the rest of the campaign and for the first three months of the 2010-11 season. On 30th October, 2010 Paynter was back from injury making his debut appearance for the Leeds first team in the Football League Championship away game against Scunthorpe United. He made his home debut for the Whites on the 9th November, 2010 coming on as substitute in the game against Hull City.
