Description:
Little progress for Billy Hamspon's men in season 1938-39 as United finished in 13th position. His young side were showing promise though and it seemed it was only a matter of time before this Leeds United team would be among the silverware. Leeds had a memorable victory this term as well, thrashing Leicester at Elland Road 8-2 with 5 goals from Gordon Hodgson and Cochrane, Hargreaves, Jk.Milburn (from the spot) getting the others for United in front of 15,001 fans. Gordon Hodgson still holds the record for most goals in a match for Leeds with the 5 he got in this match.
Back Row: Jack Hargreaves, Willis Edwards, Jim Twomey, Tom Holley, Ken Gadsby, Bobby Browne. Front Row: David Cochrane, George Ainsley, Jack Milburn, Gordon Hodgson, Eric Stephenson. Submitted: 04/25/09 (Edited 04/25/09) Views: 324 Tags: Rate this image:
