Description:
Billy Hampson's men avoided relegation by goal difference only in the season 1936-37. United finished in 19th position on 34 points, -20 goals, ahead of Bolton who finished in 20th place with the same points but had a -23 goal difference. Manchester United finished second from bottom on 32 points and Sheffield Wedensday ended the season bottom on 30 points. United had a great season at home losing only four times but away from Elland Road Leeds only managed to pick up three points all season.
