Schmeichel's Delight

Schmeichels Delight

Description: Kasper Schmeichel United's Danish number one shows his delight here after Robert Snodgrass had just put United ahead. The shot coming from the Football League Championship game against Bristol City at Ashton Gate on the 12th February, 2011. Kasper played the full ninety minutes for Leeds and kept a clean sheet in the game against the South West outfit.

Kasper Schmeichel was manager Simon Grayson's first signing of the Summer of 2010 after United were promoted to the Championship. Leeds' manager Grayson beat off a host of other clubs to the Danish keeper's signature after he had kept 24 clean sheets for his former club Notts County and won the PFA League Two Player of the Year in the bargain. Schmeichel joined Leeds on a free transfer on the 1st July, 2010 in a contract that will last two years. He was handed the number One shirt for the 2010-11 season opener just edging out Shane Higgs who showed some good form in United's pre-season campaign.

Leeds United: Schmeichel, Lichaj, O'Brien, Bruce, McCartney, Johnson, Kilkenny, Snodgrass, Howson, Gradel, Becchio.
Subs: Somma for Kilkenny, McCormack for Becchio.

Thanks to Eric of the West Midland Whites for this great pic.
