Description:
Max Gradel United's Ivorian Midfielder, Andrew O'Brien the English born Irish Defender and Eric Lichaj the American loanee Defender run towards the Leeds end here before the Football League Championship game against Millwall. Ivorian Max Gradel was brought in from Leicester City by manager Simon Grayson for a month loan deal on the 19th October, 2009. Max made an impressive start for the Whites winning the Man of the Match award for Leeds after coming on as substitute in a 2-1 win over Norwich City at Elland Road on the very same day as his move. On the 13th November, 2009 after several more impressive performances for Leeds Grayson extended Gradels loan period to reach up to the 2nd January, 2010. Further into the season of 2009-10 and Grayson was again prompted to extend Gradels loan period after some crucial match winning performances for the Whites but after a 4-2 win against Stockport County manager Grayson confirmed he had begun talks with all the parent clubs of United's loan players and shortly after on the 25th January, 2010 Gradel was signed by Leeds in a two-and-a-half-year contract for an undisclosed fee. Manager Simon Grayson initially brought Andrew O'Brien in on a months loan from Bolton Wanderers on the 29th October, 2010. The move to Elland Road was the second time around for O'Brien, he started his footballing career at Leeds Utd and was released 17 years previous as a 14 year old to Bradford City. After impressing the manager with his performances the loan period was extended on the 24th November, 2010 to reach to 4th January, 2011 during which time O'Brien expressed desires to make his loan period made permanent. By the 30th December, 2010 manager Grayson confirmed he wanted the player permanently and on the 1st January, 2011 O'Brien signed a permanent two and a half year contract turning down a lucrative offer from Cardiff City into the bargain. Manager Simon Grayson brought the American Eric Lichaj in on loan for a month from Aston Villa on the 9th February, 2011. Lichaj known for his long throws has represented the USA International side at under-17 and under-20 level. He made his debut for Leeds in the Football League Championship game against Bristol City at Ashton Gate just three days after his move to The Whites.
