The United faithful and players celebrate in front of the West Stand here after Luke Murphy scores his first goal for the Club. The shot coming from the Football League Championship game against Brighton and Hove Albion at Elland Road on the 3rd August, 2013. Murphy played the full game for Leeds and scored the winner against the Seagulls.
The Leeds United manager Brian McDermott signed Luke Murphy on the 1st July, 2013. Coming from Crewe Alexandra and signing on a three year contract Murphy was the second signing of the Summer transfer window for Brian McDermott. Murphy cost the club 1M making him the first million pound signing since signing Richard Cresswell in 2005. Murphy made his debut for The Whites in the Football League Championship game against Brighton and Hove Albion at Elland Road on the 3rd August, 2013. He scored his first goal for the club in the same game, a 94th minute winner. Manager McDermott after the signing told the official site: "I feel he was the best player in his division last year.... Luke certainly fits the profile of player that we're looking to attract - he is young, hungry, wants to work hard and very obviously talented."
