Submitted: 02/14/11 (Edited 02/14/11)
Description: Leeds born Jonathan Howson and South African Davide Somma here about to get the game under way for United. The shot coming from the Football League Championship game against Ipswich Town from Portman Road on the 2nd October, 2010. Both Jonny and Davide played the full ninety minutes for Leeds against the Tractor Boys.

Loiner and United fan Jonathan Howson came through the Academy at Leeds United and made his senior debut for the club on the 19th September, 2006 in the second round of the Football League Cup which United won 3-1. Later in the same season of 2006-07 Howson was given his league debut by manager Wise which came on the 23rd December, 2006 in the 0-0 draw with Hull City at Elland Road. By the season 2007-08 Howson had established himself as the natural choice for his position winning the Young Player of the Year award and earning a new three year contract with the Whites in the bargain. Manager Simon Grayson handed the role of captain to Howson at the start of season 2009-10 due to the absence of injured fellow Loiner Richard Naylor.

South African Davide Somma earned himself an extended spell with the Whites after he was brought in on loan in July 2009. After impressing in the 2009-10 pre-season friendlies which included a goal against Newport County manager Simon Grayson made the extended period permanent in September 2009. On 26th November, 2009 Davide was loaned out to Chesterfield for one month in a bid to aid his development in the English game but missed a lot of the Spireites games through injury. After a brief return to Elland Road he was again loaned out this time to Lincoln City on the 25th February, 2010 to gain more first team experience. Somma made a great impression for the Imps scoring nine goals in just fourteen appearances for the club which helped secure Lincoln's survival in Division Two. Somma returned to Leeds after his loan period with Lincoln finished, his strong performances for Lincoln earned Somma an extended stay with The Whites for at least another year. Manager Grayson had said that Somma is part of his plans and will not be going out on loan for the 2010-11 season. After signing for Leeds Somma became the fifth South African to play for the club he follows Gerry Francis, Albert Johanneson, Lucas Radebe and Phil Masinga.

Leeds United: Higgs, Bruce, Naylor, Collins, McCartney, Howson, Faye, Kilkenny, Johnson, Snodgrass, Somma.
Subs: Brown for Higgs, Watt for Kilkenny, Becchio for Johnson.
