A Pat For Ross

A Pat For Ross

Description: Ross McCormack United's Scottish International Striker receives a pat of appreciation from Jonathan Howson here after he had just scored Leeds' first goal. The shot coming from the Football League Championship game against West Ham United at Upton Park on the 21st August, 2011. Howson played the full ninety minutes for Leeds in the game against the Irons while Ross started the game and scored United's first goal but was replaced on 67 minutes by Ramon Nunez.

Manager Simon Grayson signed Scotland International Ross McCormack from Cardiff City on the 27th August, 2010 for an undisclosed fee. Ross made his debut for the Whites just a day later coming on as substitute in the 70th minute in the 1-0 away win at Watford. United's manager Grayson was delight with the capture of Ross saying: "Ross is a player of good quality.... He's proved in the Championship he can score goals and hopefully he will continue that with us."

Loiner and United fan Jonathan Howson came through the Academy at Leeds United and made his senior debut for the club on the 19th September, 2006 in the second round of the Football League Cup which United won 3-1. Later in the same season of 2006-07 Howson was given his league debut by manager Wise which came on the 23rd December, 2006 in the 0-0 draw with Hull City at Elland Road. By the season 2007-08 Howson had established himself as the natural choice for his position winning the Young Player of the Year award and earning a new three year contract with the Whites in the bargain. Manager Simon Grayson handed the role of captain to Howson at the start of season 2009-10 due to the absence of injured fellow Loiner Richard Naylor.

Leeds United: Lonergan, Lees, Kisnorbo, O'Dea, White, Snodgrass, Howson, Clayton, Gradel, McCormack, Keogh.
Subs: Nunez for McCormack, Sam for Gradel.
