United were playing second placed Charlton Athletic at Elland Road and looking to extend their unbeaten league run to eleven games against the South London outfit. Grayson made one change for the game with Neil Kilkenny coming in for Robert Snodgrass who injured his ankle and knee in the previous game with Carlisle United. A sold out Elland Road saw the first real chance of the game fall to Jermiane Beckford who connected with a Neil Kilkenny pass and United's leading scorer's effort went wide of the post. Leeds dominated the early exchanges and a Charlton midfielder was lucky to escape a reprimand from the referee after he brought down Luciano Becchio as Charlton found it hard at times to keep up with United's work rate. Charlton did have their moments in front of goal but it was United who forced the best chances of the half with Jermaine Beckford and Bradley Johnson both having several efforts on goal. Unfortunately for the Whites the most significant incident of the half was when Jermaine Beckford and physio Harvey Sharman carried Luciano Becchio off the pitch after he had fallen awkwardly. Enoch Showunmi replaced Becchio and United threatened again before the whistle sounded as a Neil Kilkenny cross deflected into the six yard box. The dominating factor for the next 45 minutes was the weather at Elland Road which made any decent open play increasingly difficult as the wind forced the two sides into scrappy exchanges. The only chance on goal in the first fifteen minutes of the half came for Enoch Showunmi who's low shot forced a save from the Charlton goalkeeper. Casper Ankergren was forced to make his first save of the game midway through the half and soon later had to deal with another strike from the ex Leeds player Mathhew Spring. But chances were few and far between in the game with United just edging it in that department as Jermaine Beckford, Enoch Showunmi, Michael Doyle and substitute Andy Robinson all having efforts on goal. It was a frustrating afternoon for United, the weather making it difficult for the team to get a hold on the game and dominate proceedings for any period. 31,838 fans watched the non spectacle end all square with United still three points clear of their opposition and stretching their unbeaten league run to 11 games.

Leeds United: Ankergren, Kisnorbo, Naylor, Bromby, Doyle, Kilkenny, Howson, Johnson, Hughes, Beckford, Becchio.
Subs: Showunmi for Becchio, Robinson for Hughes, Grella for Kilkenny.
