A United shirt here with message left by a Leeds United supporter at the Billy Statue in support of the Flower Protest which took place in July 2007. A verse from marching On Together the Whites unofficial adorns the shirt. The Flower protest was created against a backdrop of one of the darkest periods in Leeds United's history. A time when the club was very close to going completely out of business and thus ending any representation for the City of Leeds in the Football League. It was an anonymous Leeds United fan who belonged to the Ultra's, a Leeds United supporters group, that came up with the idea. The Flower Protest was a concerted effort by the United faithful organised through the various Leeds United forum's on the internet and in particular WACCOE. It had the aim of showing love and support through the club's darkest hour with a display of flowers and club colours that should be laid around the Billy statue. The first shirt and flowers were laid on the 20th July by WACCOE user Bilks and the display soon gathered momentum as the word spread round. Fans of other teams showed their support and some offered their own colours at the Bremner statute, the media were also soon to pick up on the protest with local and national news teams reporting on the story. The Leeds United faithful here packing out their allocation in the Gil Merrick Stand, Lower Tier. The shot coming from the Football League Championship game against Birmingham City at St Andrew's on the 26th April, 2014. Debut Delights
The United faithful and players celebrate in front of the West Stand here after Luke Murphy scores his first goal for the Club. The shot coming from the Football League Championship game against Brighton and Hove Albion at Elland Road on the 3rd August, 2013. Murphy played the full game for Leeds and scored the winner against the Seagulls. The Leeds United manager Brian McDermott signed Luke Murphy on the 1st July, 2013. Coming from Crewe Alexandra and signing on a three year contract Murphy was the second signing of the Summer transfer window for Brian McDermott. Murphy cost the club 1M making him the first million pound signing since signing Richard Cresswell in 2005. Murphy made his debut for The Whites in the Football League Championship game against Brighton and Hove Albion at Elland Road on the 3rd August, 2013. He scored his first goal for the club in the same game, a 94th minute winner. Manager McDermott after the signing told the official site: "I feel he was the best player in his division last year.... South Celebrate Ross
The South Stand here celebrate with the Leeds players after United's Scottish International Forward Ross McCormack scores for The Whites. The shot coming from the Football League Championship game against Brighton and Hove Albion at Elland Road on the 3rd August, 2013. Ross played the full game and scored United's first against the Seagulls. Manager Simon Grayson signed Scotland International Ross McCormack from Cardiff City on the 27th August, 2010 for an undisclosed fee. Ross made his debut for the Whites just a day later coming on as substitute in the 70th minute in the 1-0 away win at Watford. United's manager Grayson was delight with the capture of Ross saying: "Ross is a player of good quality....
