We're Leeds United
A Leeds United shirt here left by the owner with message at the feet of the Billy bremner Statute in support of the Flower Protest 2007. The words on the shirt read "We're Leeds United, We'll Never Be Defeated" MOT, WACCOE. The Flower protest was created against a backdrop of one of the darkest periods in Leeds United's history. A time when the club was very close to going completely out of business and thus ending any representation for the City of Leeds in the Football League. It was an anonymous Leeds United fan who belonged to the Ultra's, a Leeds United supporters group, that came up with the idea. The Flower Protest was a concerted effort by the United faithful organised through the various Leeds United forum's on the internet and in particular WACCOE. It had the aim of showing love and support through the club's darkest hour with a display of flowers and club colours that should be laid around the Billy statue. The first shirt and flowers were laid on the 20th July by WACCOE user Bilks and the display soon gathered momentum as the word spread round. Fans of other teams showed their support and some offered their own colours at the Bremner statute, the media were also soon to pick up on the protest with local and national news teams reporting on the story. Leeds fans lay flowers at statue Comments YEP Video The display was taken down by Elland Road officials around a week before the new season kicked off. Pic by LufcMadFerret. |

From Wesley Street
A view here of the old Lowfields Road Stand at Elland Road from Wesley Street. The Lowfields Stand was erected in the 1920's and the lower tier terracing ran the entire length of the East side of Elland Road. The seated upper tier with roof stretched over half the distance of the terracing. In 1992 the Lowfields Stand was demolished to make way for the new all seater East Stand. |

Leeds United 1979-80 No.0129
The season of 1979-80 saw Leeds make the lowest finish to the season since they were promoted in 1963-1964. United finished the season in 11th spot winning only 13 games. They also had an embarrassing exit from the FL Cup losing 7-0 away to Arsenal after a 1-1 draw at Elland Road. The FA Cup and again not good for The Whites as the team were out at the first stage losing to Nottingham Forest 4-1 at Elland Road. Europe didn't prove any better for Leeds losing out to Universitatea Craiova by 4-0 on aggregate at the second round stage. The writing was on the wall for manager Armfield, he had won himself a reprieve from the board after he was given a two month ultimatum in November, an improvement in the performances at home allowed the team to avoid relegation but the fans were not so forgiving. The chants loud and clear at Elland Road were a resounding Adamson Out. Back Row: Keith Parkinson, Paul Hart, John Lukic, Neil Firm, David Harvey, Ray Hankin, Byron Stevenson. Middle Row: Kevin Hird, Alan Curtis, Gary Hamson, John Hawley, Eddie Gray. Front Row: Brian Flynn, Paul Madeley, Peter Hampton, Trevor Cherry, Arthur Graham, Carl Harris, Gwyn Thomas. |

Hello Hell We Are Leeds
The defiant and comedic greeting the Leeds fans carried with them to the UEFA Cup Semi Final with Galatasary in Istanbul. The fans of Galatasary are known to greet the away fans with messages of 'Welcome To Hell' at the airport and in the ground, this was the Leeds United fans response. The game against Galatasary was played within 24 hours of the murders of two Leeds United fans. On the 5th April, 2000, Christopher Loftus and Kevin Speight were murdered by cowardly Galatasary supporting scum. Stabbed to death, because allegedly they had made insults, towards sections of the Istanbul public. An allegation that didn't have one witness who could put Kevin or Chris at the scene of any incident. RIP Kevin and Chris. Leeds United: Martyn; Kelly, Woodgate, Radebe, Harte; Bakke, Bowyer, Jones (Wilcox), McPhail; Bridges (Huckerby), Kewell. Unused Subs: Haaland, Smith, Mills, Duberry, Robinson. |

Paddy Approaches The Leeds
Paddy Kenny United's Irish International goalkeeper approaches his goal in front of the Leeds fans here, before the kick off. The shot coming from the Football League Championship game against Watford at Vicarage Road on the 4th May, 2013. The last game of the 2012-13 season. Paddy played the full game for Leeds against the Hornets. The Leeds United manager Neil Warnock signed the Republic of Ireland International Patrick 'Paddy' Kenny on the 11th July, 2012 on a three year contract. Obviously a favourite with the United Boss this is the fourth time in his career he has been signed by Warnock. Coming to Leeds from Queens Park Rangers for a reported fee of 500k he gained the coveted number one shirt and made his debut in the Football League Cup game against Shrewsbury Town on the 11th August, 2012. The United Boss said after the signing: "I think he's a great keeper. He's one of the best in the country, not just the Championship... We are delighted to get him. He's a northern lad, he knows what a pull Leeds is and he knows all about it. Leeds United: Kenny, Peltier, Lees, Pearce, Drury, Tonge, Brown, Green, McCormack, Morison, Varney. Subs: Poleon/Morison, White/Brown, Hall/Green. Thanks to: Heidi for this great pic. Heidi is the author of the book, Follow Me and Leeds United. The book is based on a diary Heidi kept in the 70's when she didn't miss a match home or away for seven years. You can check out Heidi's book here: Follow Me And Leeds United |
