A Quarter At Springfield
The United fans sell out their allocation for this FA Cup quarter final game against Wigan Athletic at Springfield Park during the season 1986-87. United have played Wigan more times in the FA Cup than in the league and in this cup game Leeds were victorious as they booked their place in the Semi with a two goal win. Mickey Adams and John Stiles were the goal scorers for Bremner's men in front of 12,479 fans. It was a decent enough second season in charge for Bremner as his Leeds Utd team reached the Semi of the Fa Cup and the Second Division Play Off's where Leeds were narrowly beat in the final after extra time against Charlton Athletic.

Leeds United: Day, Aspin, Adams, Stiles, Ashurst, Rennie, Ritchie, Sheridan, Pearson, Edwards, Swan.

The travelling United faithful outside Dean Court the home of Bournemouth hear that Leeds United have scored. United were playing Bournemouth on the last day of the 1989-90 season. A win would give Wilkinson's men the second division title and with it promotion back to the top flight of English football after dwelling for 8 years down in the second tier. Bournemouth also desperately needed the points as a loss would see the team relegated to third division. It was the Whites who managed to score the only goal in a close game with Lee Chapman heading home from a Chris Kamara cross. The win sent the thousands of Leeds United fans into raptures and sent Leeds Utd back to where they belong. The crowd on that memorable day was 9,918 with over half coming to see the men in white.

Leeds United: Day, Sterland, Beglin, Jones, Fairclough, Haddock, Strachan, Kamara, Chapman, Davison, Speed.
Subs: Shutt for Davison, Batty for Shutt.

Is That... Is That A?
....Is that a Doncaster Rovers fan? Leeds United fans in joint disbelief as they spot what appears to be a Doncaster Rovers fan. It was estimated that 55,000 Leeds United fans were at Wembley for the League One PO Final with Doncaster Rovers in May 2008. United were playing Doncaster Rovers in the First Division Play off Final at the end of season 2007-08. Gary McAllister was handed the job as manager and given a contract that ran till the end of the season after Bassett's short time in the chair came to an end. Former manager Wise and consequently Bassett as caretaker had left Leeds in a slump languishing in 8th place. The early form that broke records to get United level again after the 15 point deduction seemed to desert United after Poyet left for Tottenham Hotspur. McAllister managed to reverse the slump and get his United outfit in a Play Off position come the end of the season. In the Semi's United beat Carlisle United 3-2 on aggregate, the home goal coming from Dougie Freedman and both the away goals scored by Jonathan Howson. United's place in the final was booked with Doncaster Rovers. A lack of a cutting edge up front proved costly for Leeds in the game as United were beaten 1-0 by Doncaster. Manager McAllister admitted after the game that the best team won. 75,132 supporters turned up for the game with a massive majority being for the team in White. It was estimated and reported on Radio 5 that 55.000 Leeds fans were at Wembley for the game. With the exception of Arsenal who used Wembley for their home European games this was the largest single club support at Wembley since Liverpool played FC Bruge in the 1978 European Cup Final.

Leeds United: Ankergren, Richardson, Huntington, Michalik, Johnson, Kilkenny, Howson, Douglas, Prutton, Beckford, Freedman.
Subs: Kandol for Prutton, Hughes for Freedman.
